CORFAC Honors Members with 2016 Standards of Excellence Awards

CORFAC International 2016 President John Homsher, CCIM, is pleased to announce the organization's annual Standards of Excellence Award winners. CORFAC honored members during the Fall Summit in Toronto in late September. "This year’s award winners were all selected due to their years of selfless leadership and commitment to the betterment of CORFAC International. I was particular proud to announce our new International Member of the Year Award named in honor of my partner Steven H. Podolsky,” Homsher said. A listing of winners follows.

Charlie King MVP Award
David Boyd, CCIM, SIOR, of Boyd Commercial/CORFAC International in Houston, Texas, was The recipient of the Charlie King MVP Award is recognized for his devoted and exceptional service to CORFAC International. David has not only been one of the most valuable players on President John Homsher's team during the current year, but also has made substantial contributions to the overall development of CORFAC over the years.

This is the second time Boyd has been recognized as CORFAC’s Most Valuable Player and he is the first two-time recipient of any of the organization's prestigious awards.

“Service to CORFAC has been rewarding due to the quality of relationships, information exchange and new business opportunities the network has brought our clients and our firm," Boyd sayd. "It’s very nice to be recognized by my peers and colleagues for the work I have done on behalf of the organization."
 
Olen Monsees Award
The Olen Monsees Award was created in memory of Olen, who was President of Karbank Real Estate Company in Kansas City, Missouri, and a CORFAC colleague since 1969. The 2016 recipient of the Olen Monsees Award is Sim Doughtie, CCIM, MCR, SIOR, of King Industrial/CORFAC International in Atlanta, GA, for his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty on any task put before him.

The award recognizes exceptional service to the organization in memory of Olen, who was an iconic figure in the Kansas City real estate brokerage community. He distinguished himself with his plain spoken wisdom, quiet dignity and low-key manner that engendered deep loyalty among his clients, friends and colleagues. His focus was always to get the job done properly. He worked with a natural sense of responsibility, without complaint and without excuses. Olen was the finest of gentlemen.

“I am extremely honored to be the 2016 recipient of the Olen Monsees Award, not only because CORFAC International has deemed me worthy of such a prestigious award, but also because Olen Monsees was a true professional, a wonderful gentleman and a dear friend of mine for many years. As I have done in the past, I will continue to work toward the success of the organization, and for what’s in the best interest of CORFAC International and all of its members,” said Doughtie said.  
 
Thomas B. Hayes, Jr. Award
The Thomas B. Hayes, Jr. Award was established in 2003 to honor the late Tom Hayes, a Principal of Integrated Corporate Property Services/CORFAC International. Tom was consistently on the cutting edge of monitoring and assessing new technology and keeping his CORFAC colleagues updated on them. In 2012, the award was expanded to include all creativity and innovation within CORFAC. Members who have shared innovative and creative ideas relevant to commercial real estate brokerage are nominated for this award.

This year CORFAC honored Kurt Walsh of ProTen Realty Group/CORFAC International in Chicago with the Hayes Award.

“I was completely surprised and very honored to receive the Thomas B. Hayes, Jr. Award. I have had the privilege of being the Chairman of the Transactions Committee for six years. It has been a passion of mine, since Renee and I joined CORFAC nine years ago, to more effectively make the client and potential client connections between our members," Walsh said.

"With the assistance from the headquarters staff and participation by 98 percent of our members, we think we have finally put together something that can be built upon and used well into the future. This award shows that the members have appreciated my efforts, and for that, I am truly grateful.”

New Award: Steven H. Podolsky International Member of the Year Award
This newly created award is named in honor of Steven H. Podolsky, SIOR, of Podolsky|Circle CORFAC International, for his strategic implementation, commitment, dedication and outstanding service in growing the International affiliates of CORFAC. Steve chaired the International Committee during a crucial re-building stage and gave selflessly of his time. He was also a founding member of CORFAC International.

Alistair Subba Row of Farebrother/CORFAC International in London was honored as the first-ever recipient of the award, which recognizes an outstanding international member (outside of the U.S.) who goes above and beyond the call of duty without being asked while expanding the visibility, collaboration and reach of CORFAC globally.

“It is a great honor to be the first recipient of this award in Steve Podolsky’s name as a founder of CORFAC International and former chair of the International Committee. Being part of this growing worldwide real estate family of companies is truly special and helping to extend our international network to include firms in most of Europe, India, Asia, Mexico and South America is very gratifying,” said Subba Row.
 
Fourth Annual Standards of Excellence Awards

The Standards of Excellence Awards recognize the CORFAC firms that perform to the highest CORFAC standards. Member firms completed an application to be considered for an award and were evaluated on the following criteria:
