Atlanta, GA (September 5, 2008) – King Industrial Realty Inc./CORFAC International Chairman Charles B. King Jr. concurrently announced today the company’s new name and the appointment of new president, Sim Doughtie CCIM, SIOR, MCR, to run the firm’s day-to-day commercial real estate operations.

King Industrial Realty/CORFAC International, a leading commercial real estate service provider in Metro Atlanta with international affiliations, has since 2002 been doing business as King Realty. Founded as King Industrial Realty in 1980 by Mr. King, the company dropped the reference to “industrial” in its name for five yearsand is reinstituting it to more accurately reflect the firm’s core business and brand essence.

“We are focused on representing sellers/owners, tenants, developers and investors with occupancy and disposition of industrial real estate. It’s what we do and have a majority of market share in this product category so “industrial” belongs in our name,” said Mr. King. He added, “It is with pleasure for me to announce the well-deserved appointment of Sim Doughtie as the firm’s president and for him to lead the company into the future.”

Mr. Doughtie has been involved in commercial real estate since 1982, and joined King Industrial Realty Inc. in 1992.  During his career, Mr. Doughtie has established himself as an expert and proven leader in the Atlanta market. He will now extend his leadership from brokerage to all business aspects of King Industrial Realty, which includes branding and bringing the firm’s focus back to its core as Atlanta’s preeminent industrial real estate expert. 

The renaming of the firm to King Industrial Realty Inc./CORFAC International began earlier this year when the company engaged in a strategic planning process to map its future with its affiliated company in Jacksonville, FL. It was determined that the company’s foundation in industrial real estate, with superior market knowledge and broker professionalism, was the cornerstone of the organization and that the name should reflect the expertise. King Industrial Realty of Florida/CORFAC International was also renamed recently as part of the process (from King Commercial Realty of Florida/CORFAC International). Based in Jacksonville, the Florida office of King Industrial Realty opened in 1998.

In 1980, King developed the only known industrial real estate database (PinPoint ^SM) and since then has been committed to tracking and visually inspecting the industrial market. Today, that market consists of 600 million square feet of space with approximately 25,000 building owners and tenants.
